Biostable and Label-Free – The New Trennex® Products

Geiger + Co. Schmierstoff-Chemie GmbH has been known as an innovative developer of contemporary and sustainable fluids for the die cast industry for over 60 years. For some years now, we have committed ourselves to only introducing new products to the market that are not labeled as dangerous according to CLP regulations, provided that this is technically and commercially feasible. In the meantime, a large number of the release agents used in die casting have been labeled as a “hazardous mixture” according to CLP standards.

The cause is mostly new knowledge about allergy potential and environmental effects, which have significantly tightened the classifications for many biocides in recent years. New conservation concepts with effective biostability have been developed by our laboratory, in which the use of conventional biocides can largely be set aside. The focus of this concept is not so much the killing of microorganisms, but rather to prevent the growth of microorganisms.

THE NEW PRESERVATION CONCEPT

has been used successfully in the new Trennex W 2025 and Trennex W 2020 series for the past two years. It will be used in all new developments in the future. Due to the high compatibility of the new preservation concept with our release agents, it is also possible to convert older products to the new preservation.

The new conservation concept is characterized by the following properties:

  • Improved biostability over a longer period of time
  • No formaldehyde releasers, no boric acid and no Iodopropynyl Butyl Carbamate (IPBC)
  • Conventional biocides are used only minimally
  • No classification as “dangerous” according to CLP – no labeling
  • Water hazard class 1
